The following passport related services are available at the Consulate General of India in Reunion Island:

  1. Indian Passport (36 or 60 pages)
    1. Issue of Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passports upon expiry or exhaustion of pages

    3. Fresh Passport for a new born baby (Requires birth registration first

Apply for these services through the below Global Passport Seva portal. This is the only official portal to apply for Indian passport related services:

1. Passports

Passport is a very important travel document. It should always be kept updated. Its loss should be reported immediately to the local Police authorities and also to the nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate.

Application for re-issue of Passport can be submitted in cases such as expiry of validity (up to one year before expiry), exhaustion of pages of the passport, damage or loss, changes in appearance or personal particulars etc.

Applicants must upload a recent color photograph while completing the online Indian passport application, in accordance with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) photo guidelines. Guidelines for ICAO compliant photographs may be seen at the top of this page.

a) Issue/Re-issue of Passports:

Apply through the official Global Passport Seva 2.0 portal:
https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/gpsp/

All applicants are requested to note the following requirements:

  1. Upload an ICAO-compliant photograph
  2. Upload a scanned copy of your signature
  3. Upload self attested copies of all other relevant documents

Procedure:

  1. Step 1: Complete the Online Passport Application Form by using the above portal.
    Note: While filling out the online form, under 'Passport Printable Address Details' and 'Other Address details,' one address must be a French address.
  2. Step 2: Reason for passport reissue should be specified (validity expired within 3 years/due to expire in next one year, change in existing personal particulars, etc.)
  3. Step 3: Print the completed application form.
    (Ensure that the ICAO-compliant photograph, signature, and documents have been uploaded.)

Please note that a Passport is printed with entries made by the applicant in the online form. Therefore, kindly ensure that all entries filled in the online application form are correct.

Required Documents:

  • In case of re-issue, original Passport with self-attested copy of first and last page
  • Stay permit (Visa, Titre de Séjour or Carte de Resident) with self-attested copy of the same
  • Proof of address in case the address printed on the current passport is different. Proof of address in this case include Electricity/Water bill, Driving License, etc. with self-attested copy of the same

b) Application for re-issue in lieu of Lost/Damaged Passport:

Application for duplicate passport can only be made after a personal interview with the Consular Officer. Kindly contact the Consulate to set up an appointment.

Required Documents:

  • All documents mentioned above, under the section on issue/reissue of passport, including printout of online application
  • Self-attested copy of the lost/damaged passport
  • Original Police Report regarding loss of passport
  • English translation of the police report
  • Declaration Of Applicant in Annexure F (Click here to download)

After the interview, in case any additional documents are required, the applicant will be contacted to provide them in order to process the application.

c) Passport for a minor child:

Indian Passport for minors (below eighteen years of age) are issued with a validity of 5 years or till the minor attains the age of eighteen years, whichever is earlier. Procedure to apply for passport for a minor are the same as given above.

In case of passport application for a new born baby, the birth of the baby will have to be registered before submitting passport application.

Required Documents:

  • Printout of passport application form
  • Original birth certificate of the child, obtained after registration of the birth
  • Passports of the parents and their local ID cards. At least one of the parents has to be an Indian citizen holding Indian passport
  • Upload ICAO compliant photograph of the child
  • Declaration by both parents that they have not applied for any other nationality for the child. In case of either parent being a French national, this declaration should be attested by the concerned Municipality. Click here to download the format for the declaration.

Issue of Passport to a new born child involves two steps. In the first step, birth of the child has to be registered on the portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Details regarding registration of birth are given below. Once birth of the child is registered online, application should be made for issue of fresh passport.

2. Registration of birth and Passport application for a new-born child

A new born child must be registered with the Consulate within one year from the date of birth of the child.

Procedure for registration of birth of the child:

  1. Open the registration portal by clicking the link: https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/
  2. Click on 'Online Services'
  3. Click on 'Section 4 - Acquisition of Indian citizenship by descent - Section 4'
  4. Select the link named 'Registration of birth of a minor child at an Indian Consulate Under Section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955' and follow the steps shown on the portal

Please Note:

  • The originals of the documents are also required to be presented to the Consular Officer at the time of submitting the application form at the Consulate.
  • Depending on circumstances, applicant may be required to provide additional documents.

3. Emergency Certificate

Emergency Certificate is issued to Indian citizens in case they have lost their Indian passport while abroad. This document allows the bearer to travel only to India and no other destination (transit countries may be included during the journey). Please apply for Emergency Certificate directly at Consulate.

Required Documents:

  • Application to be filled online on: https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/gpsp/
  • Letter addressed to the Consular Officer explaining the circumstances under which the service is required
  • Duly filled and signed Annexure F (Click Here)
  • Copy of police report regarding loss of passport and English translation of the report
  • Self-attested copy of first and last page of the Passport
  • Copy of Valid Visa to visit Reunion Island
  • Photograph to be uploaded as per ICAO Guidelines

The bearer of Emergency Certificate may apply for Indian passport once they reach India.

4. Surrender of Indian Passport

The Indian Citizenship Act, 1955 does not allow dual citizenship. Holding/acquiring/travelling on an Indian passport after acquisition of foreign citizenship constitutes an offence under the Indian Passports Act, 1967, and attracts heavy penalties. An Indian national must immediately renounce his/her Indian citizenship and surrender his/her Indian passport immediately after acquisition of foreign citizenship.

All the persons of Indian origin, who have acquired foreign nationality on or before 31.05.2010 must surrender their Indian passport. They will be issued 'Surrender Certificate' and their Indian Passport will be returned to them after cancellation.

All the persons of Indian origin, who have acquired foreign nationality on or after 01.06.2010, must surrender their Indian Passport and renounce their Indian citizenship. These are two different services and applicants need to apply for a Surrender Certificate and Renunciation of Indian citizenship separately.

All the persons of Indian origin, who are unable to produce Indian passport should apply for a sworn affidavit stating the reasons for not being able to produce the Indian Passport. Along with sworn affidavit they should also apply for renunciation of Indian nationality.

5. Police Clearance Certificate

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is issued to Indian Passport holders in case they have applied for Residential Status, Employment or Long term visa or for immigration or foreign nationals who have previously been resident in India. PCC cannot be issued for persons travelling on Tourist Visa.

Required Documents:

  • Two recent colored photos of size 5x5 cm
  • Original and Self-attested Photocopy of applicant's valid Passport (Front and back data page)
  • Original and Self-attested photocopy of Titre de Séjour (recto verso copies)
  • An explanation letter in English clearly describing the following:
    1. Purpose for which PCC is required
    2. Period of stay in India for which PCC has been sought and proof of stay
    3. Place of stay in India during the period
    4. Reason for stay in India
    5. Reference/Contact No of the known person/Institution in India, if any
